Write a Blog

“Write a blog,” Don Kuhl says.
“It will be fun,” he says.
I talk with our team writer to get her thoughts.
She is smart and has good ideas.
She asks when I think I can get her a draft.
I tell her Monday.
I appreciate her having asked a question that gets me to commit.
I hang up feeling inspired.
I have a lot to say.
I open my laptop.
I look at the blank page and write “Blog” at the top.
I change the font and the size.
I have nothing to say.
I get more coffee.
I google “how to write a blog.”
I read a website that lists the “Top blogs of 2018.”
Some are so terrible that I wonder about the criteria used for judging.
I consider emailing the person who created the top 10 list to ask how these were chosen.
I wonder if the top blogs of 2018 post is considered a blog.
An ad pops up on the side of my screen for shoes.
Oooohhhh—I love them.
I am so happy that these cleverly targeted privacy-invading ads know just what I like.
I order them.
They will be here on Tuesday.
The phone rings, and I close the page and feel thankful for the interruption.
Monday passes.
It is Tuesday, and I get a reminder email from the team writer that I was supposed to send a draft.
I like that she followed up on this.
She is on top of things.
I have to write something fast.
I open a new word document.
The doorbell rings.
I bet those new beautiful shoes are sitting by my front door.
