My Very Own Valentine

My Very Own Valentine

Several years ago, Emma sat at the kitchen table and began crafting special valentines for her preschool classmates. With delicate precision, she cut out vibrant pink and red hearts, carefully affixing them onto glittering heart-shaped doilies.

Emma worked diligently, spending time making the valentines exactly as she wanted. Glitter and sequins and stickers adorned the handmade valentines.

As she worked, I reminded Emma of the class count, mentioning that there were fifteen children in total, including herself, so fourteen valentines were needed.

Pausing, her glitter-coated fingers suspended in the air, she silently tallied the numbers.

“No,” she corrected. “We need to make fifteen. One for me. My very own valentine.”

How sweet it is to be our own valentine; our own biggest fan and the love of our life.

What a good week to remember to send some love right back to ourselves.
